In a democratic country, people can change their rulers in a fair and peaceful manner, all the citizens have their equal fundamental rights. Here, all the powers are not given to any particular organs of the government (the Legislative, Executive and the Judiciary) i.e. powers are shared, this results in ensuring more stability in the government.
Why Democracy is better than other form of Governments?

How are the people's Representatives elected?
The people's representatives are elected regularly every 4 to 5 years in a country. Citizens can cast their votes to their respective representatives by going to a polling booth available near them. The voting process, procedures and forms is likely to vary among different countries. Voting can be done by two ways either by Ballot papers or by Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). Representatives are elected from various constituencies and are send to take part in the parliament with other representatives of their respected constituencies. Each elected representatives usually belong to and represents a political party which is a group of people having similar motive, goals and views.
Why are elections Important?
In a democratic country, voting in an election is a common duty done by every citizen. Before the actual elections, the candidates participating introduce themselves through the media and also their policies are advertised . Then, citizens elect those candidate on which agree the most, but as seen often people really don't know whom to vote while they gets the idea of whom not to vote. Hence, people should always take part in voting in order to prevent the party which harms the public and their daily life.
Are Democracy and Republic the same?
No, democracy and republic are not the same, most of the people gets confused to it. The word republic is a derived word from Latin which is originally 'res publica' and can be used as 'public affairs'. In a simple manner, republic means a form of government which is neither a monarchy nor a dictatorship government. Some countries have the word 'Republic' in their names which really does not really mean that they are, for example, the Federal Republic of Germany and the French Republic are both democratic country, while Republic of Belarus is a dictatorship one.
