Have you ever wondered, what does a 4G network means? There is no doubt that many of us still don't know what exactly 4G means or what is the difference of 4G with respect to other network such as 3G, 2G and 1G. It is really beneficial to know the exact meaning of 4G and its key features, as in the upcoming decades it is sure that there is more likely to come different networks such as 5G, 6G and so on, which surpasses the limits of the others. Here, we shall find the answer of this problem and also find out what 'G' stands for in 4G.

4G NETWORK:

Well, 4G stands for fourth generation of the wireless mobile telecommunications technology which is after 3G. Basically, it is operated on IP address based voice, online gaming services and multimedia streaming under high quality on portable electronic devices which speeds is same as a cable modem transmission. 4G is also known as International Mobile Telecommunication Advanced (IMT-Advanced) and at the early 2005 in South Korea it was made available by WIMAX and also came to other several European countries after few years. It came to USA in 2009, and became the 1st carrier to offer 4G cellular network.

All the 4G technologies are supposed to provide at maximum the rate of 100M bits/sec data transfers. Generally, the download and upload speeds of a carrier depends on its signal strength and quality. It also has the ability to surpass the data transfer rate of cable modem transmissions and DSL connections. WIMAX is known to be a popular 4G network technology in Asia and Eastern Europe and Long Term Evolution (LTE) is also a 4G network which seen to be very popular in USA and Scandinavia. Airtel became the first company to launch 4G services in India in 10 April, 2012 through their modems and dongles.

3G NETWORK:

3G does stands for third generation of the wireless mobile telecommunication technology after 2G. this is often based on a sets of standards used for mobile services and mobile telecommunications use services and networks which suits the International Mobile Telecommunication 2000 (IMT-2000)specifications by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). 3G gets application in wireless voice telephony, mobile internet access, fixed wireless internet access, video calls and mobile TV. 3G telecommunication network support services that an information transfer rate of a minimum of 2M bits/ sec.

2G NETWORK:

2G stands for 2nd generation of wireless telephone technology that implies  telecom network technologies which were launched on the global system for mobile communication (GSM) standard in 1991 by Radiolinja in Finland. The most remarkable upgradation of 2G over its predecessor 1G is the digital encryption of telephone conversations and considerably higher efficiency on the spectrum which allows for greater penetration level for the mobile phones. Thus 2G also introduced mobile data services and begining with SMS text messaging.

1G NETWORK:

1G stands for 1st generation of wireless telephone technology (mobile telecommunications). These are the analog telecommunications standards which were introduced in 1980  and continued by 2nd generation (2G) digital telecommunications.
